Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Called them after a deer strike cracked my front bumper. They came to my location, installed a bumper I’d sourced myself from a salvage yard, and did it efficiently. They are incredibly reasonable compared to body shop quotes. Convenient, fair pricing, and saved me from being without a car for days. Highly recommended.

If I could give more than 5 stars I would. I was driving from NC to MD and my car started smoking. Pulled to a truck stop and it was a transmission leak. I called and Shawn was very upfront and honest about what he could and couldn't do, but came out to where I was in Petersburg. This man was amazing!!!! He kept me updated on where he was and the time until he arrived. When he arrived he was protective as I was in the car with my daughter and cousins (all female) and there were men eyeing us. He thoroughly reviewed my carand confirmed it was a transmission issue and was honest about how much parts would be. He even took a video from under the car so i could see what was going on. When he saw how devastated I was he literally said I will do whatever I can to get you back to NC. I made it safely back to NC with my family due to this man. I would recommend him to anyone who needs help as he is genuine and trustworthy and can make you smile and laugh through the worst of it.

No scam straight to point and extremely satisfied with his help. After searching for a mechanic for two days — even on a Sunday after my car broke down — Shawn was the only one who treated me with respect and offered a great price. I was stuck 14 hours away from home, and he made sure my car was safe so I could get where I needed to go. He also took the time to explain the issues to me. Quick to respond, reliable, and genuinely kind. If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would! ⭐

Shawn did an amazing job on my brakes. Showed up on time, got everything done clean and quick, and didn’t overcharge me. Car feels way better now. If you need a mobile mechanic, this is your guy.

Shawn is absolutely amazing! This is my first time using a mobile mechanic in this area and I couldn't be more pleased with the level of service received. My vehicle suddenly cut off yesterday afternoon and I noticed my power steering indicator, malfunction indicator, & security indicator lights all started to flash. Shawn showed up bright and early (on time) and knew immediately what to check for. He diagnosed the issue with lightening speed! Never tried to upsell me either, which is so refreshing to see (especially) in today's climate. He was able to locate a new battery, installed it promptly and tested it to ensure it worked properly. Oddly enough, I had just took my vehicle to get fully serviced at another (well-known) mechanic shop a little over a month ago and was told everything checked out fine.🤷🏽‍♀️Thus, I was a bit surprised to see my vehicle shut down on me all of sudden. Praise God for showing me DMV Mobile Mechanic! 🙌 Shawn is not only extremely knowledgeable about vehicles and overall automotive care, but I could tell he is very passionate about his craft. He exudes enthusiasm whenever he speaks about cars. He even taught me a few things such as how to read my tire
